American Repertory Theater, in Cambridge, will present the premiere of a new rock musical by the Tony and Grammy award-winning playwright Steven Sater ("Spring Awakening”), as well as Sophocles’ "Ajax,” to be directed by the Soho Rep’s artistic director, Sarah Benson, in its coming season. Charles Connaghan’s new translation of "Ajax,” the story of a warrior recovering from a bout of madness, will have its premiere in February. "Prometheus Bound,” based on the Greek tragedy by Aeschylus, will open in March in a production with text and lyrics from Mr. Sater and music by Serj Tankian, from the band System of a Down. It will be directed by Diane Paulus, who led "Hair” on Broadway and is the artistic director of American Repertory Theater.
